The book of S.Aivazova and G.Kertman is devoted to gender asymmetry in Russian political life, especially to the “subjective” side of the problem. The authors attempt to identify basic differences in values and political commitments of men and women, also to analyze political and public commitments and motivations of women, which are practically involved in public and political activities. The authors aim to draw readers’ attention to gender evaluation of problems related to democratization and establishment of civil society in Russia, and to promote more adequate and comprehensive understanding of these phenomena.
